Setting up Scalix Connect

Scalix Connect can only be installed on a client computer by a user with Administrator permissions on the computer.

The Scalix Outlook Connect file can be downloaded from Support Center -> Downloads

To install Scalix Connect on a client computer:

  • Log in to the computer with an administrator account
  • Navigate to the directory with the downloaded Scalix installation files and double-click the setup.exe icon
  • The installation wizard launches, followed by the Welcome window. Click Next to proceed
  • The wizard begins installing files to the Outlook system MAPI directory. A progress bar tracks the status
  • When installation is complete, click Finish to exit the installer

To Set up Scalix Connector in Outlook:

Note: The connector must be set up on a new outlook profile. The Scalix account must be a PREMIUM USER - this is set from the Scalix administration console (SAC)

  • Open Start > Control Panel > Mail. Mail setup dialog appears
  • Click Show Profiles button. Mail dialog appears
  • Make sure Prompt for a profile to be used is selected, and press Add button
  • Enter Profile Name and press OK
  • In the Auto Account Setup screen, check the box next to Manually configure server settings or additional server types
  • Click Other button. Choose Scalix Server option
  • In the Scalix Login Information screen, enter your details:
    • Server Name: Enter 206.71.174.181
    • User Name: Enter your Scalix login email address
    • Password: Enter your Scalix password
  • Upon successful completion, click OK to close wizard. Select Finish to exit the add new account screen. Press OK to close Mail dialog box.

The Scalix SmartCache feature installs a copy of the user’s mailbox on the local PC for faster response time and reduced bandwidth usage. This feature must be enabled during profile creation and once enabled, cannot be reversed.

On the first time logging into Outlook with the new profile, the SmartCache sync process starts. Follow screen prompts and restart Outlook when instructed.
